            This variation builds on the techniques presented in Variation 23 but adds extra velocity in the form of 16th notes as an added challenge. Interestingly, this is one of only two times that Ševčík writes flying as an indication in the score, even though he likely intended this stroke to be used in other variations. This does confirm, however, that this variation indicates an off the string up bow spiccato stroke rather than an on the string staccato.

            Be mindful of the bow distribution within the flying slur measures. Using a lot of bow for the first note allows for more control of the up bow staccato 16th notes. This will of course depend on your own bow and bow arm, which is why you should experiment with using increasingly greater amounts of bow on the first note until you encounter a balance between control and bounce for the 16th notes.

            As always, the G. indication should be taken seriously. Use all of the bow from frog to tip whenever this indication is presented.
