Variation 32

#downbowstaccato #downbowspiccato #jerk

This variation combines down bow staccato and down bow spiccato. These both occur at the tip (Sp.) and are clearly distinguished by their respective markings. The downbeat of each measure is on the string and should be accented, and the third beat (as marked by the jerk notation) is a bouncing ricochet off the string stroke.

This variation helps develop power as it demands that the first two beats are forte. The down bow spiccato jerk stroke is marked piano, so be sure not to throw down the bow too forcefully for those sections.
