Variation 24
#upbowstaccato #sautille #retake
As a contrast to variation 23, this variation works well with an on the string up bow staccato. In the first two measures, retake the bow in the rests to make sure that you begin each slur at the exact same spot on the bow. Combining the articulated up bow staccato with the quick retake is half the challenge of this variation.
The next challenge is reversing the standard direction of a sautillé stroke by starting up bow in measures 3 and 4. Make sure to use the same bowing in the similar passages in lines 2, 5 and 6. A small amount of pronation in the right hand helps engage the articulation of the up bow sautillé stroke.
